Connecticut took a double hit Sunday, with news that starting forward Tyler Polley is out for the season with a torn ACL and meniscus injury in his left knee.
That news was revealed not long before the Huskies dropped a double-overtime game to Wichita State.
The junior, who started all 15 games before Sunday, was injured in practice Friday. He averaged 9.5 points and 3.2 rebounds and had his first career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a victory Wednesday over Tulane.
Polley is scheduled for surgery Friday and will need as much as nine months for recovery.
Connecticut went with a three-guard look at the outset in an 89-86 defeat to Wichita State, with Akok Akok going 0 of 5 from the field as the lone starting forward.
